Well pretty soon nearly all the thousands of stations across India will have Wi-Fi.what is more Banglore railway station already has Wi-Fi from today onwards.from now on everytime you go to banglore by way of train on reaching banglore you can directly access the internet by way of your laptop and the Wi-Fi access provided by the railways.you no longer need to go out into a strange place and try and locate an internet kiosk.that will be difficult especially if you do not know the local language.
Imagine you are travelling to Banglore and you have a very important business meeting and so you need to access the internet right away.well,on reaching banglore railway station you can do that now with just your laptop.the railways plans to bring this facility for the major rail stations all across Indian sub continent real soon.i have to say that for an institution that is known for dragging its feet on many issues the railways has surprised many observers by taking this action and quickly at that!

The recent pact between the Indian post office and the low cost carrier Air Deccan,now allows you to book your tickets from your neighbourhood post offices.is that not fantastic?now we no longer need to go to all that hardship and go all the way to the airlines office and book them.now our tickets are just a short walk away.of course Air Deccan is trying to increase its customer base and the rumor is that they are going to come up with some more people friendly measures real soon.so do keep an eye out for the Air Deccan fares,who knows,it may even drop further!

If you are in Chennai and you are in need of good food but not at very high prices then this place is a must.it is located on the TTK road just opposite the Narda ghana sabha.this place like so many resturants has a myriad of dishes to offer it's customers.so say you are from europe and you need food just like it is at home,then you can give this place a shot.
The ambeince is nice and it is non smoking,so you can breathe easy.as far as the continental section of the food is concerned,they have the usual steaks and the usual dishes but with a few suprises as well.their fish and chips is just great and so is their sea food macaroni au gratin.their soup especially their mushroom soup needs to have a few more mushrooms in it as well as the flavor but all in all it does make for a wonderful dining experience and lets not forget the most important bit of all,it is heavy on the stomach but light on the wallet.so try it and you will enjoy it!

The rain miracle!

Well what do you know,miracles do happen!it was blistering hot down here a week ago and i was just thinking and praying in general for something to happen to cool down the high temperatures.and guess what!it happened!it started pouring cats and dogs down here and the temperature has really come down!this is just fantastic!
Whats more,i just heard on the local news that a trough of low pressure has formed in the Bay of Bengal which means more rain for Chennai.normally at this time of the year the temperature's peak out a bit hitting the high's and all that but suprisingly this year it is just pleasant all over!wish you were all here!for the latest weather information on your city you can always check out the various online weather sites for information.i just did so and i just got it confirmed that it is going to rain down here for the next few days!

Prawns au gratin

I love all dishes in general but my favorite one is prawn au gratin.imagine a white cremy sauce with a slight taste of pepper and salt.and just as you take a bite of it,you find some thing crunchy in your mouth.it is the deep fried prawns.and the combination of a salty white cream sauce with a crispy prawn and all of this topped with cheese and baked.oh god!you just have to be there to taste it.
In general,i love all augratin dishes be it veg or non veg.but i have to say that the au gratin combination best agrees with either prawn or chicken,you can try either one at home and i am giving you the link to the recipe below so do try it out and let me know how it goes!

Beach calls all!

Well it is high summer and the beach is calling to all of all ages and of all backgrounds,as you can see from the photo.the people of chennai,India are all flocking to the beach to cool off with the sea waves as well as to have a nice cold ice cream on the beach.it sure is fun to walk on the sea shore as the sun sets down and really cool down.it is indeed time for some serious beach fun and i mean serious beach fun.
Of course you can always cool off by wandering into an air conditioned bar or plaza but somehow that would not be the same as the beach.just to hear the sea waves pounding the surf,thats something that no plaza would ever be able to recreate.and i thank god that i live about 10 minutes walk away from the beach!so head to the beach and beat the summer heat as it retreats in face of the monsoon!

San Fransisco's Ferry plaza starts calling all!

Well these days there is always a huge Q heading down to ferry plaza to get the regionally grown produce as well as to try out the various epicurean delights that are made from them.all in all it makes for a wonderful experience.you get to taste new delights of a common egg that you have not tasted before.whats more you may even see the people who grew the organic food as well as talk to them.i short it is an experience that you would probably remember for quite some time to come!especially when you consider the snap peas, heirloom tomatoes, mesclun, fava beans and "humanely raised" lamb.so see you there soon!

Well it seems that the spring fever is truly on us and get this,this spring if you stay at any of the Macdonald hotels say for 2 days you get a third day free.isn't that fantastic?

A ice cold heineken!

I live down in sunny chennai where the temperature always hits the high 40's and often you feel the intense desire to go and have an ice cold heineken.believe me,when the temp goes to such heights you would want a cold heineken inside you.just imagine you are out walking down the street and the weather is unbearably hot,you start sweating and all of a sudden a ice cold heineken drops onto your hand.you pop open the cap and take a swig of that frothy liquid and just as that ice cold honey coloured liquid flows down into your throat,what do you say??

Singapore-ever lovely!

Singapore,a small city but one of the cleanest cities in the world over.it is even cleaner than most of the superpowers.singapore is unique in every aspect.for a traveller to our singapore,it should not take more than 5 days to take all the aspects,sights and wonders of singapore.singapore is also home to a very uniqie zoo,a visit to which should not be missed at any cost.
Singapore may seem a bit costly to the everyday tourist but take my word for it,it is worth every penny or paisa that you spend there.it is also one of the most harmonious multi cultural cities of the world which gives a whole new meaning to the word 'urabn'.
