Aliens - a short note!

I have seen many horror and sci-fic movies but none as enthralling as the 'Aliens'. This movie may not be as popular as the 'Star wars' but is much more interesting than a fancy movie about good versus bad. In the real horror movies, or ones that have a lasting impact, there is not much difference between the good and the bad and this movie exemplifies that very clearly.
There is no villain here except it is a case of one species against another, I think that is why this movie became so popular. That and the presence of Sigourney Weaver, made this movie, one to remember for a long time to come. I shall be doing an in depth review of this movie later on, just wanted to say a few words on it for now!

The good german - a REVIEW!

The good German is a nice book that has been written by the author Jospeh Kanon. The book was interesting in so many levels, with all the hidden layers of intrigue laid bare. The book by itself makes us look deep inside ourself to see what we many not want to see.
Yesterday I saw the The good German that was based on this book. The movie has been shot entirely in B&W and it does take one back to the time we all saw Casablanca. Some of the seedy portions have been cut out of the movie version for the main reason that they were too seedy. But the essence of the book has been caught in full.The movie may be boring to some but it was enthralling to me and I am sure to the others as well. And it most definitely not one of those action movies that one can see and immediately forget the minute that one steps out of the theater. This is not the 'Die hard' kind of movie, it reads more like a spy thriller and even the music is designed to take one back all the way to the 50's when the soundtrack could not be called perfect. That is the music goes off key in the middle of the movie just as it used to do so in all those old movies.
This movie is a must see for all those old movie buffs, it will definitely thrill them to see the way that the movie was shot, with blurry backgrounds, with off key soundtracks and with dialogue that is designed to catch your attention more than the action in the movie itself.
This is a 'Back to the past' kind of movie on all levels. The basic synopsis of the movie is that it involves a German couple, an ex Nazi officer and his Jewish wife and what they do to survive and get out of Germany. The book and the movie makes us take a really deep hard look into ourselves and see into that dark morass that we call the human heart. I remember seeing an old B&W movie about an American officer falling in love with a German women and he falls for her. And as he tries to help her get out of Germany, the treachery that is within that woman's heart lays exposed for all to see. This book and the movie follows along the same lines. That is the plot of the book and the movie is not something that we have not heard of or seen before. But the difference is in the way that this book as well as the movie makes us take a deeper look into what we may call our 'Priorities'. The movie, especially the second half, has the very essence of Casablanca built into it and I have to say that of all the people in the Movie, Cate Blanchett was impeccable all the way, She truly brought the 'cold heart' and the 'reality bites' that any war may impose on a Human soul into true juxtaposition! This movie is most definitely a 'Must see'.

Roma - deals ablaze!

Rome,Italy.just the names by itself makes our imagination come alive.Rome as a city has a history that straches 2 millenium and more.it has some of the most fantastic architecture that has ever been built by man.some of the aqueducts that were built by the romans are still operational today incouding the all famous fountain that still is a fountain today as it was way beck then.
Rome brings all those stories of violence,passion to life.it is the city of ceasars and nero's.one can walk to the forum and still see where Julius Ceasar was allegedly cremated or so they say.need i talk about the colosseum?one can almost imagine the gladiators fighting to the death.Rome is a city unlike any other and it is a must for any traveller to see.and when one visites Rome,one also goes to the Vatican.so lets hightail it to Rome ASAP!
